Is It Time For Apple And Samsung To Step Aside And For Huawei To Take The Lead?

When you’re in the eCommerce business it’s wise to be picking up lessons from all directions. So as you plan your next moves with your own online Magento store, let’s consider the battle for smartphone supremacy as it’s playing out among three major players – Apple, Samsung and bringing up the rear, Huawei.

As things stand the market leaders are Apple and Samsung. It’s been like this for a while, to the point that if you’re anyone in the smartphone business you might have decided it was time to pack up and go home. But nothing stays the same forever in life, much like Magento website design, and that’s certainly true in online sales. eCommerce market conditions change, and shifts in technology, consumer trends and the worldwide economy mean that even if you happen to be a mega-brand like Apple you can’t get too comfortable.

Statistics say that sales of smartphones are starting to slow down. There could be a few reasons for this – many people have their smartphone now and perhaps the excitement of having a new device is outweighed by the need to budget more carefully. Extra features alone may no longer be enough to tempt customers to invest for the latest technology. If you’re not the frontrunner (and Huawei certainly isn’t yet) that can seem like there’s no point in trying to compete any more. Even with a massive expansion Huawei still have a long way to go. But staying in the running and continuing to make positive changes in line with customer demand gives them the best chance.

The demise of other mobile brands has shown that staying on top of market development is a must. If you lose your place in the running, there’s no clawing it back. Apple and Samsung are obviously never going to ‘step aside’ to let the underdog come through. But sometimes in eCommerce unexpected developments can reshape the running order. Just make sure you stay in the competition.
